Education and Training
At the heart of Kyeni International Organization (KIO)’s mission is the belief that education is the gateway to transformation. From nursery to university, KIO is committed to offering holistic education—intellectually, spiritually, and socially—to Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVCs). Through scholarships and donor support, we have educated over 100 OVCs, many of whom are now gainfully employed and contributing to the well-being of their families and communities. We also offer mentorship, extracurricular activities, and annual youth camps to ensure the development of the whole child.
To address the lack of accessible secondary schools in rural areas, KIO established Kyeni Girls’ High School in Makueni County. Since its opening in 2021, the school has offered a lifeline to girls from remote villages, giving them not only access to education but also a safe, nurturing, and spiritually grounded learning environment. The school’s presence prompted the national government to extend electricity infrastructure to the area and inspired the county government to explore using our borehole water system to supply nearby villages. Additionally, KIO has renovated Makobe Primary School, an effort that helped revive the village’s economy, prevent the school’s closure, and bring back vibrancy to the local shopping center.
