Poverty Alleviation
Poverty is one of the greatest barriers to a child’s well-being and potential. At KIO, we understand that supporting children must go hand-in-hand with empowering the households they come from. We train and equip widows and guardians with income-generating skills and financial literacy, enabling them to sustainably support their families. These initiatives reduce economic vulnerability and foster dignity, independence, and resilience among caregivers.
Our work has already borne fruit. Families supported by KIO have begun small businesses, engaged in agriculture, and even participated in community cooperatives. These empowered caregivers can now afford school supplies, pay for healthcare, and provide consistent nutrition to their children. In this way, KIO is not just responding to immediate needs but addressing the root causes of poverty, paving the way for generational change.
